    My next upgrade... an SSD.

    Heyas.

    I'm looking forward to getting one of these for my PC.. New Micron SSDs ..... 355mb/sec read speed o.o;
    But will I be able use it or take proper advantage in my regular old Sata II system (I think 3gbps)?

    Perhaps I should just get one of the current intel drives and have done with it ._.;; ?

    Also finding this kingston drive
    extremely tempting aswell..
    R/W speeds 230 MB/s 180 MB/s

    The realssd specs do look very good and many previews have rated it highly, performance seems to be > intel.

    It will work fine on Sata II but you may find it saturates the bandwidth, but I doubt it'll be noticeable unless you benchmark it.

    Intel is a good alternative, I'm guessing it will be cheaper compared to the micron on release.

    I'd rank the kingston third out of the drives you've posted.

    Re: My next upgrade... an SSD.

    As mikemikemi said the new micron SSDs look very good, and would appear to be topping the current intel drives in what reviews ive seen. We still dont know what the price will be though for them, and if your planning on waiting for those then I would say probably best to wait and see what the reviews say at the time about random 4k writes and real world tests like boot time and whatever you will be using it for.

    i too am thinking about an SSD upgrade, but doubt it will be for a while as they're just too costly for me £/Gb suspect i'll stick with Samsung F1s and F3s for a while longer yet somehow!

    Which Samsung drive is that, anastie?
    I'll also be looking at the new OCZ Vertex 2 drives that were announced at CES in 50gb/100gb etc capacities these should be fast like the new micron drives.. and the 50gb version.. making mincemeat out of the other value options I would guess.
