Slow Samsung SSD and HD Tune

    Hello there,

After finally buying an SSD, I was just using the benchmarking thing HD Tune 2.55 after reading about it on the large thread. This was just to check if it was all working correctly.

It is a Samsung 64GB SSD MLC, the model number is MCCOE64G5MPP-0VA

I have tried looking online but have found very little, but basically I've been getting speeds of around 70mb/s but everyone else on that thread seems to have far higher.

Is it just a slow SSD that I've bought or is something wrong?

It is connected in my M1330 XPS Laptop.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

How about testing random read/write? One thing I do not like about Samsung SSD, is that it's so hard to differentiate them. I am sure there are a way, but sometime I think that as silly as they are sometime, 'Pro', 'G2', Turbo etc. do facilitate the identification of drives.

I've seen Samsung SSD reviewed go slower than yours, two quite a bit faster. Testing random read/write serves two purposes: 1. You can rule out the possibility that you are somewhat bandwidth limited (shouldn't happen as even SATA-I go at 150MB/sec, but still).

And secondly, well, it's probably the most important thing anyway.

0.2ms access time is not slow. 70mb/s write speed is not slow.

    Your SSD is not slow

Hi there, thanks for the replies.

How would I go about testing random reads and writes?

It is just that everyone else's SSD seem to be getting speeds of at least 100mb/s whereas mine goes at a poultry 70mb/s

Maybe it is because it is in a laptop?
