I know, the Vaios we have with SSD's arre blistering, might get one to pop in my new HP Mini and possibly as a system drive for the the desktop
Quick, somebody tell Saracen![]()
Which one did you get? The 40GB Intel-V one?
80gb
Mind boggling.. W7 boot times, game load times.. just breath taking.

Nice one zak, aslong as you are getting good benefits from the drive.
I really want an SSD but its out of my reach at the minute, my 4850 is beginning to slow down for games (metro 2033 >.<) so may have to upgrade that first before anything.
Out of interest, how much faster are game load times? A huge margin or just a small noticeable gain? I know company of heroes takes an age and a half to load for most.
I bought my SSD when I got W7, so I don't have a real idea how much quicker it is. I agree it's certainly very quick, but there appears to me two other areas that are "slowing" boot times. POST, which I think I read that a MB manufacturer had improved this. And then there seems to be a pause as Windows boots up USB devices (I notice the lights briefly go out). As soon as those two are done though, Windows is straight in. Anti-virus/spyware scan are also good to watch on a SSD.![]()
Ahhh another man on the SSD band wagon, i have to say personally ive not bought one of the intel drives, not really for not wanting one, just because at the time the others were better value for money and I dont need 80GB on some of my machines. SSD = best thing to happen to computing for a long while.

I was lucky enough to find out about these things just at the right time to solve this work issue I had. Then I saw the performance and, well my dev PCs ended up been upgraded.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
i plan on getting the 80gb intel to go with my 160gb intel, just to stick it as paging and temp files
halved my boot time, like you say there are amazing bits of kit.
someones selling a crutial on here, i nearly bagged tht but nothing else gets close to the 4k writes
Can you use SSD in a normal gming PC and does it connect via sata ?
