    Hard Drive Advice

    Hello All,

I have a PC which is about 2 years old but the 1 gig drive is starting to fill up and I will require more space. The machine is used for both games and work. In its work mode it hosts a full test estate of VMware images AD, SQL, IIS, Exchange, XP Clients, Windows 7 etc. I need a drive with a lot more space but something that is going to be fast enough to cope with hosting multi images which will generate a lot of disk writes.

I am a little out of touch in hardware technology when it comes to hard drives I was hoping someone could give me a few pointers in what to look for when it comes to buying a new hard drive.

    Re: Hard Drive Advice

If your current drive is coping, then any modern drive will. Tom's Hardware has hard drive performance charts that will help you make an informed decision based on what aspect of the drive's performance is most important to you, e.g. write access time.
