Yeah, I had a feeling that was the case, busy cleaning off programmes now. Always worth asking though

Re: New SSD and Graphics card?

OK so I think I have a plan, if I can scrape the extra money together.
    2* EVGA 460 1Gb's = £300ish and a Vertex 2E 90Gb SSD = £150

From what I can find out the power consumption of 2 460's looks the same as 2 8800GT's so I shouldn't have power issues. The 460's also seem to give alot more performance than the 6870 I was going for.
The Vertex 2E looks faster than the C300 on a Sata2 connection, and for a bit more cash can get 26GB more space.

    Anything I've missed here?

Or you could have the Vertex 2E 60GB for £89.99 today from Ebuyer.

Hmm I can only see it for £98.25 at the moment on ebuyer, but even so that does save me half the money that i'm missing.

Would two 6850s be faster than 2 460s? I think they would and use less power to boot.

Think you've got to put in that SOLID code at checkout.

BTW, just noticed the V2E 120Gb is £167 on Scan's Today Only if you can stretch the budget even further.

Putting in SOLID doesn't seem to garner any discount

Re: New SSD and Graphics card?

Righty just blown £400, only £50 over budget so the wife shouldn't kill me too much
    1 60GB OCZ Technology Vertex 2E, 2.5" Sandforce SSD, MLC-Flash, Read 285MB/s, Write 275MB/s £77.99 £91.64
    2 X 1GB MSI GTX 460 HAWK "Talon Attack", 3900MHz GDDR5, GPU 810MHz, Shader 1620MHz, 336 Cores, Mini HDMI £262.92 £308.93

Plus with the free shipping from Scan its almost a saving (trying out female shopping logic there....)
