SSD controller garbage collection for XP/Vista?

With the current price promotions I've been tempted to get a SSD, but as I don't have Windows 7 does one controller perform better/quicker doing self maintenance when left idle? And kicks in quicker than other controllers, so don't have to remained logged out for hours?

Only know of two controllers that provide tools to do on-demand maintenance for XP/Vista with Intel toolbox and Indilinx wiper. But models using these both seem above budget though as looking at £90 for 60/64 or £150 for 120/128GB, or less.

Yes. The new Toshiba T6UG1XBG controller does very aggressive garbage collection on every write, regardless of OS. You find them in the Kingston SSDNow V+100 for example.

Re: SSD controller garbage collection for XP/Vista?

Seem the existing Kingston V+ also uses that chip, which is cheaper as I don't need the encryption of the V+100.

I don't think there are any hard figures for this, as it would be difficult for reviews to measure. And everyone assumes people have Windows 7.
