What cheap SSD?

When you say"not fast" what are you comparing it to??

My first generation OCZ Vertex is slower in every way compared to any of the drives mentioned in this thread and yet I have boot in a few seconds and all my applications load very quickly. It uses an ancient Indilinx controller. This was in comparison to a single platter Samsung F3 500GB. I am using it in an H67 motherboard.

Try cycling the SSD through the SATA3.0 ports and even the SATA2.0 ports. You have anabled TRIM,disabled the page file,disabled defragmentation and disabled hibernation?? Checked that ACHI is actually activated?

That is a very good point, I remember someone on hexus with a C300 and they said it was faster on a sata 2 port than the sata 3 ports they had.

I know in my BIOS there is a setting for combined sata mode, If I leave it enabled it slows down the drive alot.

I'm almost certain I have ACHI enabled. I turned it on in the BIOS. And the I installed the Intel driver that is meant to help.

Will the new firmware make a real difference? I have 002 at the moment and it says you shouldnt update unless you have a big problem.

Have a look at these benches my drive is 46% full and then benchmark your drive.
