    Crucial C300 firmware update stuck

So, my new drive arrived and I decided to update the firmware from 006 to 007. Unfortunately it seems to be stuck as it has looked like this for over 2 hours now. Not sure what to do tbh. Should I ctrl-alt-del, leave it overnight and see what it looks like in the morning, turn off the PC? There's no suitable help I can find on the crucial website.

OK I tried ctrl-alt del and nothing happens.

Re: Crucial C300 firmware update stuck

2 hrs is a good long wait and I would be inclined to try again. Things I would check are whether the SSD is connected to SATA2 or SATA3 port and if AHCI or IDE mode is enabled in the bios. I would probably try to flash in IDE mode connected to SATA2.

Is this one of the recent C300 refurb drives?

I'd do that and also re-download the Firmware update again just incase there is a problem with it.

I had a few problems in the past flashing the firmware on the OCZ Vertex but, I was lucky that I didn't kill it.

Re: Crucial C300 firmware update stuck

It is one of the refurb drives. I decided the only thing I could do is turn off the PC, so I did that. I connected the SSD to a different SATA port and tried again and it worked OK. Thanks for the advice.

Glad you got it sorted. I've still got to finish installing Windows 7 on mine. But, it gives a much higher AS-SSD score than my OCZ vertex ever did.

Re: Crucial C300 firmware update stuck

Just for info, I did my C300 the other day. I bought mine new some time ago and had firmware 002 on it. So did the 002 => 006 and then 006 => 007.

Takes a minute or two to flash and the BIOS had to be set to IDE for it to work - the firmware update doesn't pick up the drives if set to AHCI, or at least didn't on my old P35 mobo (SATA2).

Have noticed a slight improvement in performance, but only really visible in synthetic tests. And my SATA2 connection will also be limiting
