New SSD
Im looking for a fast SSD just for my operating system and maybes one or two games..I have an older striker 2 mobo so i cant use sata 3, is it worthwhile to buy a new mobo just for sata 3, and would this make much difference to a ssd if i dont upgrade my mobo

Re: New SSD
To be honest I don't think general use will see much benefit from SATA 3. The most noticeable improvement is copying big files, random reads and writes are still relatively similar.
A big increase in speed when copying small files doesn't provide much improvement because they are already getting done in nanoseconds compared to milliseconds on conventional drives.
How much are you willing to spend? SandForce drives are great, I'd recommend both the OCZ Vertex and Corsair Force SSD drives.

Re: New SSD
Get a Crucial M4 128GB (faster overall) or 64GB (excellent budget drive and worth every penny!). The drives have excellent reviews throughout.
The main point of getting a SSD is the seek time (the time it takes for the drive to get to the data), throughput is secondary and rather over rated when it comes to everyday use.
Tom's hardware have a monthly ranking of the various drives here.
Right now you can get the Crucial 64GB M4 SSD for £69.99 delivered at eBuyer.com (to get this price you need to enter promo code: CRUCIAL64 and choose free 5day delivery at the checkout).
