ISO's & FAT32

right then guys, need the thinking caps on,


broght a new family dvd player supports usb for playing films, now hopefully it should handle iso's but the more pressing is that it doesn't seem to support ntfs - only FAT16/32. now iirc FAT32 has a file limit of 4gb and most of the iso files i have are about 4.5, thus making it a no go to transfer any to my stick............................and i can't be arsed to burn everything.

is there a way make this work or some software that can make it FAT friendly? would magicISO or powerISO do the job?

At 4.5GB I am guessing they are DVD rips? If so, you can use DVDShrink to re-compress them to under 4GB.

You could possibly just save the DVD folders (TSVIDEO) .....most DVDs are written in 1GB files.

Use it to transcode the video to something like a mp4/mkv file if your dvd player supports that?

@shaithis, most of them are dvd rips. call me strange, but prefer to have my stuff as iso's as opposed to TS files - mainly as it's less files to lose.

Have you checked if it will support Linux ext2 or ext3 filesystems ?

My Humax set top box supports them, and it is a handy way to get big files on and off the box, as those file systems will support big files.

shrink worked ok and got them on my drive, but well it seems i mis-read the file specs - should have really turned on the light in stead of using the monitor

it can't read an iso itself, but reads avi/mp4/divx/xvid

so will start again............................

Another vote for ext2/3, I reckon there is a good chance your player will support it...
