Do HDDs, SSDs and general hardware come with fitting kits?

I recently bought a Samsung 2TB HDD from amazon, and it doesnt come with any cables to fit.

Now instead of whinging I'm wondering what cables should I be looking for to fit this? I'm pretty sure on my first build everything came with the necessary gear so it was plug and play. In this case I got nothing to plug with. I'm also going to be getting a new disk drive for my build so I'm assuming the oem version will have nothing but the drive itself.

Is there like some kind of cable set you can get? You know like you can get sets of plugs and connectors for auto electricians and such, maybe there's a similar set for pc builders?

You'll have the power connectors coming from your power supply -

All you're missing are your SATA data cables like so -

Amazon will sell them, many other places will, local might be cheaper and quicker (bank holiday delivery etc). Should be a few quid.

As far as I know, there's no such kit, but you do usually get at least a few cables with your motherboard.

    It's 4.98*

Thanks Peter, it's been a while since my first build so I wasn't sure whether the cables came bundled with the Hdds and such or whether they come with the motherboard. I guess we'll see when I get around to getting my kit together.

They come with the motherboard usually, not the hard drive. Hard drives usually come with four screws and that's about it, sometimes they'll through in a sata cable or a molex-sata power adaptor, but that's not common.

Yup, the cables required will come with the motherboard. Power should be fine depending on the age of your power supply. Otherwise plenty of places on the web will have what you need, or if you need it quickly/can't wait. Places like Maplins.

Thank you everyone, apologies for the noobishness of my question.

The PSU I have is a modular 520w corsair unit and was bought about 3years ago, now to find the box and remaining cables. I'm pretty sure it'll be fine though.

Noobish question here too: is there just one standard connection used for supplying power to an SSD, or do they vary by manufacturer? I'm planning to buy a Crucial M4 128gb and want to ensure that my Corsair CX500 will be able to power it without any converters

They are standard. Every hard drive uses SATA power connectors these days (see the first picture that PeterStoba posted).
