External HDD with one USB?
What up, chaps. Anyone know if there's an external hard disk out there which can be powered off one USB?
I know there are higher capacity USB sticks, but I'm looking for a drive with capacity in the hundreds to work with an Android tablet that only has a single USB.
Re: External HDD with one USB?
My Western Digital Passport HDD is 250gb I think and is powered off only one USB. Very compact too so ideal for portability. No need to lug around a huge case and power adapter is a plus.

That sounds just right, cheers.
Re: External HDD with one USB?
I run two 1TB Iomega EgoIII HDDs and they are quiet, fast and I've not had to use the second connector (used them both on 4 different machines). The bundled encryption software works well too.
They also do a smaller capacity models, and also a 1.5TB version, all in a range of colours. Not on commission, I'm just very happy with my drives and sharing the love.

I think it depends more on the PC too imo

running off a tablet? check the manufacturer's tech specs to see what power over USB the tablet will supply - you only need a second USB if the power from one connector is too low.
