    Which SSD?

    Hi all,

I have been looking at buying a new SSD, I have seen the other threads and narrowed my choices to the following three, I'm just not sure which to go for.

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/64gb-...rite-90mb-s-75

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/30gb-...-write-250mb-s

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/30gb-...-write-260mb-s

If I were going off Read and Write speeds alone it would be either of the Corsair drives.

    Opinions and thoughts?

    Re: Which SSD?

Only one - why so small ?
The bigger they are the faster they are. Why not get a 120Gb model which will take W7 and most of your apps ?

    Re: Which SSD?

If you are going for such a small drive, you should wait and see what the new Intels have to offer. I'm not a fan of the OCZ stuff so would avoid them, despite them being on the face of it, good value.

I've never had a problem with my vertex 2e, but the new Intels look verrrry nice.

    Re: Which SSD?

    Disturbedguy,

Are you using the SSD for your OS & games? Also does your motherboard support sata3 (6gbs)?

    Re: Which SSD?

I have a new motherboard to fit which if I remember supports SATA 3, will have to check, I bought it off Mark from SCAN not long ago.

I have a 120GB SSD at the moment but I have decided I want to use it for OS and important apps only.

I will use this drive as my game / steam drive.

    Re: Which SSD?

Any particular reason you would go for them?
Is it just the high read speeds or am I missing something?

Nah I already have a 120GB so want something smaller, £70 is about the max I will go.

Trying to tempt me, you bad, bad man.

    Re: Which SSD?

The only problem with the Corsair 30GB Accelerator Series its made for SSD Cache Drive, What kind of games are you looking to install on it?

If you play games like BF3 that's over 15GB so you would only have another 15gb available and new games these days are getting bigger in size.

If your looking around the £70 mark, i would go for LN39245 or LN44031

Cool , you should be ok with a 60GB then, as i think anything below that is two small

Yeah. 80GB is a bit tight for an OS and a couple of games. My Intel is nearly full.

I would go for a Intel or Crucial ssd as I would take reliability over speed..
