    Recommend software for wiping HDD's?

I need to wipe data off some HDD's and so far I have been using EASEUS Partition Master and using the tools in there to wipe data about x5 times. I'm not sure how effective it is.

So, can anyone recommend anything better please?

I prefer something UI based in Windows.

Not sure if it meets your requirements but if you want something that will wipe and entire hard drive then use Boot & Nuke :- http://www.dban.org/

Or as already mentioned CCleaner is good but obviously if its running on your windows drive then windows will remain

No need for multipasses or special software. Just make sure the disk is fully wiped, ie data or zeros are written to the entire surface.

Anymore is simply wasting your own time.

    cat /dev/zero > /dev/sda

or whatever... No-one has been able to recover data from a drive that's been zero'd (or at least, no-one's done it and mentioned it to anyone )

You can always use 'Darik's Boot And Nuke'

    http://www.dban.org/

/edit: sorry I see Jonj1611 has already mentioned this above.

I believe it is possible to recover some of the data but the cost of that level of forensics is so high, it's cheaper to use 'other' means.

No data is safe from a man with a big knife.

a free or paid for windows based prog would be nice if it allowed you to do multiple disks at the same time as well as doing a read write verify. I know pc check has a destructive option when checking drives but is also a boot disk.

    Hows about:
    Code:
    dd /dev/zero > /dev/sda ; dd /dev/urandom > /dev/sda ; dd /dev/zero > /dev/sda

Am assuming you're talking about taking someone hostage? Just get Jack Bauer in.

Well, currently using Darik's Boot and Nuke 2.2.6 (beta) right now, using the DoD Short method with 3 passes.

3 passes should be enough right?
