SSD bracket, velcro or which other creative method

    Hi all,

I am just about to buy a Sammy 830 from scan....

    Question for SSD owners:

Have you guys used 2.5" to 3.5" brackets or the velcro trick to install the SSD drive????

I saw this plastic bracket which might do the job, even though "expensive" considering it is just a piece of plastic

    .

    Any thoughts/recommendations????

If it's the 256GB Novatec have it for £155 delivered

My M4 came with a bracket that I don't need as the cages in my case have the holes to screw it in, you can have it for delivery.

This is the laptop kit with the spacer included. I am after a bracket for desktop installation.

    Thanks anyway.

BTW, Scan is almost a tenner cheaper for the same SSD.

erm.... £155 from Novatech or £219 from Scan on TodayOnly

Sooo tempted to crack out the credit card right now for a 256GB SSD at that price.

Fair enough is on Pre-Order, but I believe Scan honours the deal. Refer to this Hexus thread

Hi Spank, the link you posted is for the laptop kit. Novatech does not have 256Gb desktop kit in stock.

I might go the bluetack way...

Re: SSD bracket, velcro or which other creative method

When I got my first SSD I got this bracket to secure it in to my Antec 300's 3.5 bays (Whats another £3-£4 when you've just dropped a £100 on a SSD?).

In my new build I have two SSD's and they have no additional brackets, velcro or blutack to attach them because the nice people over at Corsair designed the drive bays in the Obsidian 650D to accommodate SSD's

Re: SSD bracket, velcro or which other creative method

I've been running a pair of 640Gb normal hard drives suspended from part of my case with bits of string in a cradle for years! I got annoyed with the vibrations transmitted to the case making a noise. No matter what I did with noise reduction bits it still made a noise. In the end I cut all the hard drive mounting space out the case due to needing more space for the graphics card.

Gigabyte 3d Aurora = reverse Tardis!

Most modern PCs only need space for a DVD/Blu-ray drive, the rest of the space is surplus. You could easily use that for hard drives and allow the lower half to be open for airflow from a front 120mm fan. Dremel DIY all the way.
