Thanks for this recommendation Newblet :) I am just putting together my first build and this SSD looks just perfect for it.
In line with the thread topic, I am really glad I read this! Not just for the above recommendation but also the info on the Sandforce controllers. I was only going to purchase an SSD with Sandforce, but this changed my mind. So thanks CommissarTommy for starting this thread, you really helped a newb

Shame there is no Samsung listed, but from the results presented, Crucial is by far the most reliable.

I had discounted the M4 as write speeds are poor (relatively) on the 64/128gb models. But with the recent price crashes, the 256gb had become a contender at ~£160. But I couldn't resist Scan's "Today Only" on the Samsung 830, £137.99 was too good to miss. Better write speeds (400 vs 300 mbps), sexy aluminium case, Norton Ghost, plus a useful SATA-USB lead were enough to swing it.

I got a Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD and funny enough it comes with the 505 firmware while the latest you can update on their website is 503 .... witch is weird :\
Also I got like 2 BSODs so far... don't know for sure if it's from the SSD but that's what I am inclined to belive... I switched the windows driver for it from the intel to the standard AHCI and I hope maybe that will change something.
