Hey Hexites,
After building a few mini ITX systems, I realised how loud 2.5" drives were and I've been considering other mediums for storage. I'm becoming more and more of a low powered user and don't do many intensive things on my PC.
As it would only be storage for photos, music and a small amount of media, I reckon 32GB/64GB would be enough.
Now the question is, what form of medium would be best for that sort of storage? The only thing I can think of are SDHC cards, USB sticks or SSDs. External drives and NAS are out of the equation really as I don't have that much to store. I'm also not too keen on online storage as my internet isn't overly fast.
Of course, ideally I would get a 256GB SSD and simply stick with that, but USB sticks and SDHC cards are much more cheaper, but what would I need to consider? I assume SDHC cards and USB sticks have less max r/w cycles, meaning they have a shorter life span? Transfer speeds are not really a problem as if I do go either route I would ideally get a class 10 SDHC card or a USB3 USB stick. None of my data is really critical so I am willing to take a small risk.
Has anyone got any similar experiences that they would like to share?
