Hi as above i need a new amd board and wondered what the opinion is of the above, as this is just a stop gap measure till the AM10 cpu's come out but i need a new board now so don't know wether to go the extra for a sata 3 board

If you have an SSD that can do it (basically any released in the last year) then I'd say SATA III is definitely worth it, an SSD on SATA II will still perform much better than any HDD, also the system feeling fast isn't really to do with the bandwidth, it's rather the access time, which you will still get on SATA II (I think) anyway.
As Newblet has said, in the real world, differences will be negligible as it's mainly to do with the access times. However, if you spend your whole day simply moving files about then you may notice some performance hits. At the end of the day, max SATA2 speeds are super fast anyway! I used a SATA2 SSD on a SATA1 laptop and it was fine, the CPU was bottlenecking the system most of the time when the laptop did slow (which it rarely did anyway).
Ulti, did you recently order one of the 2560 × 1440 27" IPS monitors from Korea? I've been monitoring the threads since the beginning on another forum (I don't know if I'm allowed to mention other forums here) and your avatar is familiar. Did you order through BCC, get a DOA monitor and he's paying for you to return it?
Yep I'm on HF as Ulti and OC.net as Dabb. I had a small thread here too: http://forums.hexus.net/general-disc...l-s-korea.html
I ordered from dream-seller and I returned it but it's currently stuck in S.Korea customs. He did say he'll give me a full refund including postage back.
We should keep this thread on topic so perhaps PMing me or replying in that thread would be best.
if it's an interim measure get the cheapest board you can get away with. No point spending excessively, you won't get enough value back from an AM3 board selling second hand to make it worth getting a decent one. As others have said above, you almost certainly won't notice the difference between SATA2 and SATA3 day to day...
