Samsung SSD 830 won't let laptop sleep

Hi guys,

First forum post on Hexus so woop.

Just bought a brand new Samsung 830 to go in my rig when I eventually get round to building it.....

Using it in my laptop at the moment and am absolutely thrilled with the performance, even though its on a SATA II bus. Hopefully will be even faster in the new build. Having one issue at the moment which is that the laptop will now not go to sleep when I tell it to. It is an intermittent issue and have made sure that it does not turn off ever in power management. I have implemented the Magician performance settings and set aside a bit for garbage collection.

Are there any thoughts as to what may be causing the problems?

The 830 should be using its own power saving program (under "OS Optimization" in Magician), which could be conflicting/overriding the laptop settings. You could try disabling this, although it could affect performance or power use.

powercfg can be used to track the issue back to either some specific software or a driver preventing sleep.
