Question Corsair Force GT vs Samsung 830

    Hi,

I currently have 2 Corsair Force GT 60GB in RAID-0.

After a few games are installed space becomes tight, so I decided it is time for me to up the size of my ssd's to 120/128GB each.

I am finding it very hard to get solid answers on what's the fastest drive to get as I am told for real world performance there is allot more to it than just basic advertised read/write speeds.

So I have seen the Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD and the Samsung 830 128GB and ofc looked at the Corsair Force GT 120GB and also even the Vertex 4 from OCZ

I like instantaneous responsiveness from OS operation and FAST load times of the OS and apps and games, so what should I buy?

    Many thanks.

I am going to take a shot in the dark and guess that the basic read write speeds are of less importance to me then the lesser known statistics, due to the fact with raid-0 the basic read/write will be fast anyway, thats a shot in the dark I really don't know what I am talking about.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    They trade blows.

Some people avoid the GT because it has a Sandforce controller in it, and there have been problems with them, though it actually seem quite rare.
Some people avoid the Samsung because it seems that your data is written to ram and saved to flash later, but again I have never heard of anyone actually losing data over that.

I went GT because I like the idea that an entire flash chip can die and you don't lose any data. Perhaps the Samsung has enough ECC that it can do that too, but I didn't see it written down anywhere.

As with everywhere else, you'll get two names more than any other...The Crucial M4 and Samsung 830.

It used to be "Get the M4, unless you can find the Samsung for the same price", but now the Samsung's cheaper so I'd go for that. You can get the one with the "laptop kit" for £78, but it doesn't come with a sata cable, so be aware of that if you don't have a spare one lying around (they tend to come with motherboards).

Yeah I have Samsung SSDs, albeit older ones but they are still top notch.
