    Ssd server?

    Hi All,

    Looking to upgrade my server's storage, have thought about the following.

    (Server spec's: Xeon Quad 2.4ghz 16GB Corsair Ram, I have just bought Windows Server 2012)

    Oh and Servers use is File Storage, Web hosting and Game/VOIP Hosting

    Storage options;

    2x 128GB SSD's RAID 1 (OS Drive) + 2x 2TB Samsung HDD RAID 1 (Storage)

    2x 2TB Samsung HDD RAID 1 (OS and Storage)

    1 1TB Raptor (OS and Storage) + 2x 2TB Samsung HDD RAID 1 (Extra Storage)

    Or any better suggestions?

    Please and thank you for your help guys!

    No point in SSDs I wouldn't have thought. Stick with the 2x2TB and put the extra into more RAM.

    Re: Ssd server?

    Just one Intel DC S3700 as the OS drive.

    You didn't say whether you had a quality RAID card. If you don't, then I propose not using any RAID and scheduling a clone/image of the drive(s) to spare(s) once a week or so. However, I'm not sure how well Server 2012 does software RAID, so maybe it will be fine.

    Will the SSD make enough of a Difference to warrant the price, do you think?

    Would you Recommend Getting one if I don't? (If WS 2012 RAID software isn't suitable)

    I'd set up a weekly back up as well just to be safe.

    Thanks for your help and input
