Thread: Please someone give me an advice for SMART status

    Please someone give me an advice for SMART status

    my HDD is samsung 500gb hard drive. Today when i check my SMART status on HDD it say i got warning in yellow color. Problem is i have current pending sector - current -100
    worst-100
    data-2
    status-warning

    should i claim my warrenty and remove my HDD?

    Until you run Seatools (I think it works for Samsung, if not find the Samsung equivalent), most firms won't accept a return/refund. SMART alone is usually insufficient to demand a refund.

    If you haven't already, get your data backed up.

    I just had two Samsung drives do this, one 7200rpm and one 5400. Mine were out of warranty, but I did at least get any data I wanted off them.

    Running Seatools on one of them took ages and then crashed. The drive seems in a worse state afterwards, so if I were you I would get all the data off and then run SeaTools until you get a fail out of it. Seagate should accept it for an rma then.
