the main problem that OCZ has was the "lets build our own" attitude, it kicked them up the arse with firmware after firmware to try and fix flaws and bugs.

Yes. Massive firmware issues. BSOD's often. Data loss. Totally dead drives that don't appear in the BIOS.
Even Intel (520) couldn't provide a stable drive built on the chipset. Their forums still have lots of people with BSOD issues.
Some were "fixed" with firmwares, some were not. Some of those "fixed" drives are now BSODing on newer chipsets again. They're just a nightmare if you get hit by their problems.
Google "sandforce reliability" for some of the horror stories. The first Intel link pretty much sums it up.
I had a vertex 2e that I had for two years before upgrading and selling it on. It's never missed a beat, and is still working hard.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
The recent SF SSDs reliability according to me is really unquestionable. They have been very efficient till now & my gut feeling is they will continue to be the same. I think the old wrong perceptions about these controllers is still making rounds which is currently absurd!
Or you could just visit the Intel forums and see the issues for yourself.
What's absurd is this "but mine works fine guys!" - yes, I'm sure it does. Any product with 100% failure rate would be recalled. The issue here is what's statistically likely to keep your data safe - and it's not Sandforce drives.
If you search, there are endless threads on here about this, including RMA rates from retailers which prove reliability issues with them.
I have no interest in putting "wrong perceptions" out there, I'm only interested in the statistics and figures. These show that you're most likely to have issues if you buy Sandforce, OCZ, or worse if combined.
If you think their reliability is "unquestionable", even when Anandtech still had issues on the latest firmware....well, you're a bit delusional.

HUKD has loads of SSDs listed if you search. a 120gb for about £70 seems like a good deal. £115 for a 1 yr warranty and the price of them now seems a bit of a risk.
A 120gb ssd and a 1tb HDD seem like the best deal fof that kind of money (of course if space is not an issue).

I'd prioritise reliability over everything else. I bought a Crucial M4 about 18 months ago with this in mind and its ran perfectly since. I hear a lot of good things about the Samsung drives too.
