Internal dvd drive caddy?

Peeps.

I have a internal sata dvd burner that I had to remove from my pc as my son enjoyed opening and closing it many times a day and using the open drawer as a shelve to store things on.

However I would like to use it now and again and I was wondering if there is such a thing as an internal dvd drive caddy that would allow me to use the drive as a external one.

I know that you can get caddy allowing you to use and internal sata hdd drive externally.

I have searched for internal hdd drive caddy but had no luck on ebay/amazon.

Anyone know what I am on about and if said device exists?

I was looking at the items he is selling but I wanted to try and use the kit I have first.

I did think about selling the dvd drive.....

I have an idea, pop the bezel off the drive, disable the button by having a look at the options, ie snap off the pin that pushes on the switch, then he can't press the button to open it, you of course right click the drive in explorer and hit the open drive option

then push the draw to close.

or buy a slot loader to piss him off as it has no draw

How easy does use Need to be? I'd be tempted just to remove the power connector and reattach as needed

I would do that but means removing the side panel from my pc every time. Not too much effort though. I could fit a switch to the back of the case to switch it on and off.

If that doesn't work, buy one of Spoon's external drives. They don't cost any more than you'd pay for an adapter. I bought one, it was brand new, works perfectly.

If you have free SATA ports on your PC, the cheapest solution would be a SATA plus POWER bracket to you PC, plug in when you need without taking the side off.

2 Ports eSATA 4 Pin Power PCI Bracket Slot SATA Cable. Are different ones around if you fancy other, around £2-3 each. Most of the times comes with cables.
