    Lightbulb SSD for OS

I understand that with HDDs there are things to look out for for homing your OS installation on them, such as green, blue, black label etc.
But what about SSDs? Is there anything to be aware of from an OS installation to a general storage drive or is an SSD and SSD at the end of the day?

Not really. They're pretty much drop-in replacements to a HDD.

If you want to keep things simple, buy a Samsung or Crucial drive* (very little real world differences between them, but plenty of reviews that cover them), install an OS from Windows 7 upwards, use like a normal HDD.

Be aware that a performance can degrade if you fill them up to the brim, so do try to keep a bit free where you can, but it's not a huge issue these days.

*These are just the most popular, reliable brands. This is not to say others are not suitable for you. I personally avoid sandforce after many issues with them.

    Re: SSD for OS

Yes I've read about some past complications with Sandforce, so I'll play it say with a brand I'm familiar with

    Thanks for the info!
