    Yup, there's a reason why those M500 drives have been so heavily discounted recently! Definitely the 'go to' drive for most people I think, unless you're seriously hammering IO all day long. I guess the only caveats might be long-term endurance & reliability, but Crucial have been pretty solid in the past.

    The Crucial drives are all MLC NAND,so actually have a longer theoretical lifespan than many of the Samsung drives which use TLC NAND.

    True, but as process sizes decrease (the MX100 uses 16nm NAND), so does the number of PE cycles each cell can endure. Obviously wear-levelling & spare capacity address the problem, but it remains to be seen how well...
