Looking for a cheap, fast, reliable backup solution

So I'm looking at getting an external hard drive for backups of videos, photos and important files. Requirement wise I'm looking for something that doesn't need external power (so 3.5" drives are out of the question) and other than that I don't really know what else to look for. USB3 and then I guess just a good warranty if anything happens.

I also know I could buy a 2.5" drive and an enclosure for it but I'm not sure if there's any gains other than knowing that I haven't backed up my stuff onto some eco green crappy drive.

I think 1TB should suffice. Any help would be great

Doesn't matter how good the warranty is, if the drive fails, the data is gone.

If you want to use rotating storage, I'd use at least two. The certainty about hard drives is that they will fail, the only uncertainty is when.

Also: cheap, fast, reliable. Choose any 2.
