Predictions for SSD prices Christmas 2015

    So I have a 250gb mx100, but it's full!

My s340 has two front slots for SSD's so I want to get two 500gb 850 evo's and have experience raid for the first time.

Are there any reliable sources for expected prices come the end of the year?

Are we likely to see the 1tb SSD's come sub £150?

I dont think so. Currently the cheapest is £200 for 960GB so i cant imagine it could drop bellow £180

Even still £180 with flubit or 10% off deal and you start getting close, the 1tb is probably the better option.

Yes. At least by the end of the year, if not lower. Next year the X-Point stuff is coming online. Supposedly cheaper, faster and more robust than NAND. There is only one direction current SSD prices are heading.

Crosspoint looks amazing, but it seems that Intel expect you to pay for that fact:

    http://semiaccurate.com/2015/09/01/i...per-roots-idf/

"During a later keynote, Intel claimed it would have up to 4x the density of DRAM, less than we were expecting, and cost half as much, about what we were expecting."

Flash is still dropping in price though, I can't see that changing any time soon.

Re: Predictions for SSD prices Christmas 2015

I imagine 240-256GB drives will drop below £40..so you could get 1TB of space for around £150. Thankfully SSDs are so small you should be able to stick 4 into any case.

Re: Predictions for SSD prices Christmas 2015

I expect 1tb prices to go just below 200 for a samsung 850 series let's say, and for something that has been there from time to time like the sandisk to go to something like 180, I dont see them dipping below 150

There were some good deals last year on Amazon for the 512gb crucial mx100s. I'm hoping the same happens with the 1tb drives.

Re: Predictions for SSD prices Christmas 2015

This week (or was it last?) was a lighting deal on 500GB BX100 for £92.20 (which I went for) @ Amazon. And that was already a pretty good deal.Doubt the £150 dream, unless you combine some deals together.
