    SSD failure?

I have been having issues where my Windows 10 has been freezing up. I had tried multiple things and was told to check my hard drives too.

I have already been told by someone about my SSD SMART report that it may be best to change it. It is already too late as I have a new one on order, as I dont want to risk loosing data from it dying completely, but I just want to see if anyone here thinks the same. From what I understand there are a lot of bad blocks (this is also visible in event viewer) and the read error rate is very high.

    Re: SSD failure?

    Hi

The Agility 3 is a few years old by now....but its down to your SMART report - nothing to do with windows 10.

What does SMART report as being bad?

I guess its irrelevant really if yo have ordered a replacement anyway.

and also irrelevant as you have a backup for all your critical data right?

Can be worth trying a new SATA cable first.

    Re: SSD failure?

to be fair the Agility 3 IIRC got quite bad press for its unreliability and people having trouble with them. A colleague of mine got one which turned out to be a brick, got refurb' replacement, and that wasn't great either.

    Re: SSD failure?

I have the OCZ agility SSD in a spare PC and most times, the BIOS can't see the SSD and thus you can't boot to Windows. After about three restarts, the SSD springs to life and hey presto, life's all good again.

Invest in a better SSD and move over asap

    Re: SSD failure?

I have one of these old SSD's too, and luck its been perfect...but that will be a kiss of death for me I am sure!

If the sata cable is bad/dodgey, the smart status often will highlight that....

If mine played hide and seek at boot time it would be out of the system ASAP....

Also worth trying a different SATA port.

    Re: SSD failure?

It's probably a fault slot or cable... Could be the SSD.. OCZ SSD's aren't as good as they were in 2009-2010 now..

    Re: SSD failure?

OCZ have been recently bought out by Toshiba so their current/new drives should, in theory, be much better in terms of reliability. But yeah OCZ did pick up a reputation for poor reliability beforehand.
