    Good Deal? 480GB Crucial BX200 for £72.99

I'm looking for an SSD to replace the 640Gb disk in my Asus N55, and Amazon have this on:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-BX20...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

I don't need the same capacity as I've got, and this seems to be a good price. I think I've already got the 240gb version in my desktop, anyone any experience with the 480gb model?

Not used the 480. My son has the 240Gb and it runs very nively.
And yes that's a good price. Ebuyer and a couple of others have also had one day deals on it before at this level, but it's since gone back up.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Re: Good Deal? 480GB Crucial BX200 for £72.99

Well, it arrived and I clean-installed Win 10 on it, and I think I found what the bottleneck was with my laptop. The old disk would take ages to load anything, this is like a new laptop. I know it's not the quickest SSD, but for a light-use 'living room' laptop, it's 10 times better than my old disk.

I have a Crucial SSD and have been very pleased with it. Unless you were running two identical computers with different SSDs (one fast and other [marginally] slower), you would never notice the difference anyway.

The step change between magnetic and SSD of any speed is what will really impress.

I would add - but still check read/write to be at least 480 MBs

For half a tera of SSD that's a rather good price.

General rule: anything better than 20p/GB for an SSD is a good price.

Pretty interested in this - is this a decent brand and worth the price? Are speeds and reliability good enough?

Crucial have some protection against data loss if the power fails, but only that already written(?). The warranty is only 3 years, so...
For Crucial drives the new one is the MX300 and the price is reasonable.
    http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/ssd
    525GB for £122.39, so 23p/GB.
    SATA only.
It's 3D NAND but TLC, so not as good as Samsung 850 MLC.

One I like the look of is MyDigital's BPX NVMe SSDs - 1.4PBW! and 5-year warranty.

Not yet on the UK market, so far as I can see, but there are 2 links to sites on the product's page.

For anyone who missed the £72.99 480GB SSDs and wants some cheap storage:

    The MX300 750GB are £105 on amazon uk now (2:45am 25/11/16)

(I can't post a link because I'm new, but i'm sure anyone intersted can find it)

Well, I can't see that one, so here's a starter at least:

Re: Good Deal? 480GB Crucial BX200 for £72.99

Yes, sorry it's gone now :/
It was only on for a few hours and it took at least 3 days for my post to show up.

Still, it gives an idea of what is a good deal, so far I've seen MX300's at:
    525gb: £72.99, £80
    750gb: £105

Amazon have since bumped the prices up higher than they were a few weeks before the black Friday sales weeks.
They're now charging £160 for the 750gb one which is terrible value for money!
