    ssd just about full

    hi I have an ssd 512g and it is nearly full 25gb left the cost of 1tb is quite a bit at the moment are there any hhd that would be good at performance as a replacement or could I do something with my current set up such as move programmes etc.?

    Yes, you could. 512Gb is huge, more that likely you've got files there that don't really benefit from an SSD's characteristics.

    Look at it If it's something you access often, and suits lots of short reads/writes then leave it. If it's something like 'media' files then move them. I'd leave anything to do with windows, but any programs you've installed should be moved unless you know you really want them on the SSD.

    Something like WinDirStat might be useful to show you what files/folders are taking up most of the space on your drive so you can decide what to move.

    by moving them I take it they will still work things such as nero etc
    I will look at that watercooled thanks

    Unless you set up links, simply moving program files will likely cause them to stop working. However things like media files (videos, music, etc) are something you can normally move without issue.

    It depends on your usage of course but I'd be surprised if you'd managed to use 500GB with just programs, unless you include games in that.

    hi no games and I use lightroom I thought they would be allocated on my other drive but it could be them I will move them and give it a try

    To see where your disk is going: run Directory Report as an Administrator
    That way it can find hidden files
    www dot file-utilities dot com
