Hard Drive Setup

My 840 Pro has been rock solid, it's now almost 4 years old. I've no reason to believe that the 860 Pro will be any different.

I also sincerely hope that Samsung have learned from the mistakes you mention.

This is the company that took two attempts to fix the 840 Evo and only managed a workaround and then a year or two later did exactly the same thing with the Note7.

Just about anyone else is less likely to have issues given the state of Samsung's design QA at the moment.

I've been running a Samsung 951 almost 24/7 since march and before that I had a 256GB Samsung 830 as my OS drive for years. The Note7 might be an epic fail but don't get caught up in the BS that Samsung cannot produce quality products.

A single item out of the millions they make every year hasn't gone wrong after eight months. Gosh, if only other companies could aspire to such heights.

Of course Samsung aren't having an OCZ-style meltdown with product failure rates in double digits and if you do go for the 960 I wouldn't expect it to have problems. But to choose it over alternatives because you think it'll be more reliable just seems absurd at the moment.
