My 840 Pro has been rock solid, it's now almost 4 years old. I've no reason to believe that the 860 Pro will be any different.
I also sincerely hope that Samsung have learned from the mistakes you mention.

A single item out of the millions they make every year hasn't gone wrong after eight months. Gosh, if only other companies could aspire to such heights.
Of course Samsung aren't having an OCZ-style meltdown with product failure rates in double digits and if you do go for the 960 I wouldn't expect it to have problems. But to choose it over alternatives because you think it'll be more reliable just seems absurd at the moment.
