Hello guys,
I am using Sony external hard drive (1 TB) from last 3 years; I have a number of documents, images and videos in it. Today when I insert my hard disk into the laptop it shows disk-corrupted message, I guess the drive is affected by some kind of virus. I am afraid that my data has lost, can anyone please help me out.
It is unlikely to be a virus, unless you have other evidence that your system is infected.
The success of any recovery attemp depends on the nature of the disk corruption, and the file system on the disk.
What operating system and what is the exact message?

Have you checked your drive status in disk management? It might be possible that your drive partition table is corrupted or the drive has many bad sectors.

I also have doubt that the drive is affected by virus. I have tried to run antivirus but still problem not solved.
What exactly is telling you that the disk is corrupted? I.e. Is it when you try to access it, a Sony utility or something else?
What is the model of the external drive?
Can you post a screenshot or quote the exact error message with available options.
I know you can get a corruption error message when you plug in a USB stick drive, this is usually caused by when you have unplugged it whilst it was writing data and subsequently asks if you want to scan it for errors.

Follow below steps to go to disk management:
(Assuming you are using Windows 10)
1. Do right click on “This PC” and then click on manage.
2. After this, computer management Windows will appear.
3. Just click on disk management under storage option and check your drive there.
I have followed the above steps and checked my drive. It is showing as healthy drive in disk management, but still, I am not able to access the data in it.
Ok. Then try the another solution. Use the check disk command to identify and fix the hard drive issue.
Open command prompt by typing cmd in run Window
After this type “chkdsk E:/f” (E: stands for the drive you want to fix) and then enter
Once you press enter, it starts repairing the hard drive.

After completing the repairing process, reinsert your drive to see whether it allows you to access the data over it.

If check disk command doesn’t help you out then just go with third party software like something removed to recover your data and then format your drive for reuse.
I've had really good results with Recuva & Power Data Recovery.
If I were you, I'll try Recuva or another freeware data recovery solution.
I second Bonebreaker's suggestion, Recuva is quite good and free too.
