Question Is my 2tb Hitachi HDD on the way out? SMART data inside...

    Hi there

Just noticed a warning in crystaldiskinfo for this drive. I also have Hard Disk Sentinel which runs on startup but didn't flag any kind of warning. The SMART values are the same in both programs though.

    Here's a pic:

Any HDD experts out there (or otherwise like me!) could you tell me if it's time to retire this drive? I hardly use it and can fully back it up if needed. Nothing TOO important is on there AFAIK.

    Thanks all!

One to watch. You appear to have an unreadable sector which has been mapped out by the drive’s firmware and one of the unallocated sector pool (provided for this reason) has been mapped in in its place.

Keep an eye on it - if more sectors start being reallocated, then the drive is on its way out (and when all the of unallocated sector pool has been used, then the drive really is on the way out) but no immediate need to panic (imho)

Thanks PeterB I appreciate your expertise.

We can close this thread if you wish. I'm backing up the data now since I have lots of spare space.

edit: further SMART for reference (including Power On Hours / Spinup Count):
