How can I recover PDF files from a corrupted Hard disk?

I am presently using WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive.
I accidentally dropped it last week rendering it inaccessible.I tried some manual commands to make it accessible and was successful in it but now I am unable to see anything when I connect it with my laptop and am afraid if I have permanently lost the data.
Is there any way out of it?Please help!

Yes, the lost data can be recovered via a professional data recovery software.

My suggestion would be <by admin: link removed>.

This data recovery software has been around for decades now and will perfectly solve your issue. To use ot you will first have to connect your HDD with your laptop/PC and then run the software.

Do you have access to a desktop pc? First I'd put it in a sealed bag (triple bag it) & stick it in the freezer overnight. My next move would be to remove the drive from its case & hook it up via a SATA cable. Bear in mind it is a long shot.

If the files are important then i would suggest contacting a Data recovery service, it may take a long while but it might be your best shot.

Re: How can I recover PDF files from a corrupted Hard disk?

Put an ear to it when you connect it up, and listen out for the disk spinning. Check the Windows Disk Management console to see if it recognises a drive is connected.

A physical impact is most likely a case of the drive being damaged over data on it becoming corrupted, especially if it was dropped when powered down. There are some very expensive recovery firms that could probably extract the data if it was critical.

For future reference, never keep data in one place, always make a copy of it as a backup elsewhere to protect against this situation. Any one items should be able to fail completely without losing your data.
