Re: adding raid post install
Re: adding raid post install
win 10 pro
I don't think raid is on in the bios
drives will be 2x 1tb ssd in raid 1
this is a work pc running a data base so down time has to be as low as possible, while it is under regular backup there's no fail safe.
currently has a 120gb ssd for os and a 480gb for db
32gb ram and a xeon cpu
The idea here is a need to increase the space for the db and provide some redundancy at the same time, this will be paired with a 4x 2tb nas in raid 5 for secondary backup and space to play with
Re: adding raid post install
Looks a good bt of kit - but not something I've used.
I have used an external RAID card in the past (on a linux system - but at the hardware level the OS is usually irrelevant.
If you are using it for daya, then adding it woud be easy. If you are going to RAID the OS, yoou may need to do a re-install.
Re: adding raid post install
That caddy will need to be installed (open the pc) and then there is the question of do you trust its RAID mode and what happens if the enclosure goes south?
Can you not add another drive and use windows raid? (not the greatest but would be very small downtime to fit the second drive)
If its important (guessing it is due to downtime restriction), I would look at the Lacie external units.
