Where to place hard drive in standard tower

Hi in a standard atx sized tower where is recommended to place a second hard drive don’t want to interrupt the air flow

Put it right at the bottom or buy a bracket and place it in a spare optical drive slot.

Thanks I have a spare bracket from my server so could put it up there but what about airflow around it

It should be good with the fan up top near it.

You want to be aiming for about 30 to 40 degrees C for ideal hard drive temperature, so it will probably be about right.

Thanks for all the helpful replies, so if I fit it above the dvd drive how can the air from the 140 at the front cool it

If hot air from cpu & gpu are exhausted, it probably doesn't need cooling. See graph above, chance of failure at a well ventilated 25 degrees is twice that of a toasty 40 degrees. Just don't let it cook at 60, that's bad. Or IME owning a Seagate at any temperature.
