Re: Microsoft cloud storage
Yes I no longer keep a backup drive inside my pc. Backups go to an external drive and to a Nas. I use the Synology cloud to backup my Nas.

Interesting. I'll be converting my old PC to be a file server/NAS to help, as well, so your approach supports my idea not to get anymore storage inside the new rig.
Re: Microsoft cloud storage
This has been Apple's model for some time.
Re: Microsoft cloud storage
For general file storage on a Windows computer, you can use onedrive for standard backup. There is a 30 day recycle bin for business one drive and if you want to make the backup easier you can use folder redirection on your main document folders. With windows 10 it gets even better as OneDrive will manage your storage to upload files to the cloud that are not commonly used and stream them when you need them. Personally, i use onedrive and divert all folders. I do the same on my laptop so onedrive becomes the hub for my files and my desktop, documents & pictures are replicated on both devices.
Re: Microsoft cloud storage
I still do a local backup as I find the online services are worth a hard drive per year. If the prices are more reasonable then I will move to online backup
Re: Microsoft cloud storage
Externa hard drive and cloud storage are both for me
Re: Microsoft cloud storage
I have both external and cloud backup...
