A good M2 SSD for Aorus Z390 AORUS PRO

Hi i'm thinking to finally upgrade to a m2 sdd and i have no idea which m2 SSD to get, I bought this motherboard in 2018 with i5 9600k and 16gb of DDR4 3200mhz. I'm interested in 1tb storage that's not too expensive and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

What are you upgrading from, chances are pretty much anything in the m.2 range will be good enough, personally I've got 2x 500Gb Samsung 970 Evo+ drives in my main machine which are plenty good enough for me.

I agree but I don't want to overspend and purchase one that will just get bottlenecked by my system.
Currently using a 120GB Samsung SSD 840 pro series and a Crucial_CT512MX100SSD1 (taken from device manager)

Ignore. Just saw you were looking for TB storage.

This is a mix of budget, how you intend using it and whether you are in a hurry.

WD Black SN750 SE seems a fairly decent performer for the about £100 price tag, but it is better on reads than writes. It's generally better than my old SN750 which I'm very happy with, and apparently work in a PS5 as well despite the PCIe 3 speeds on a PCIe 4 interface. You can abuse that drive down to below SATA speeds with sustained writes, but it has a big enough SLC cache that you probably won't.

There are way better drives based on TLC flash, but they seem to be the high end PCIe 4 ones at twice the price which if your current PC can't do PCIe4 seems an iffy investment. If you are like me, then by the time you invest in a PCIe4 motherboard the price of SSD will likely have fallen. In fact, for the price of a high end 1TB SSD I went for a 2TB SN750.

Note that Amazon have the SN 750 SE Battlefield 2042 edition with a bundled game key currently a lot cheaper than the bare drive, so £89 at time of writing.
