    First question :)

    Seeing this has just reminded me; someone at work has asked me to get a price for a RAID 5 external hard drive unit with ethernet access. Is this the sort of thing you do, or do you work on a larger scale?

    If you do it, how much are they? (I think he's looking at 1TB useable capacity. Not sure whether he wants 100 or 1000Mbit though)

    Thanks

    Mike

    What you need is the N5200/4100 series of equipment from Thecus as these support RAID 5.

    These can be seen at the following links ;

    Thecus N5200
    N5200 Roustor
    Thecus N4100

    Hope this information helps

    We have two of the 5200's at work, one doing daily back ups and the other doing a weekly back up and being taken off site (in a padded record box).

    They needed a couple of firmware updates and now work flawlessly. Thinking of getting one for home back ups

    We did an N5200 review and some time before that a N4100 review.

    The N4100 wasn't very speedy in my opinion, but the N5200 owns it, and the firmwares get better with every release, it seems.
    PHP Code:

    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
