Question N5200 Rouster - gigabit switch problem

I'm trying to understand a problem with the gigabit switch of my N5200Roustor.

I have the WAN port configured as 192.168.1.25. The N5200 is connected to my ADSL router which runs DHCP, so I have DHCP turned off in the N5200.

I can access the N5200 from any PC connected to my router, however if I connect a PC to one of the four LAN ports, none of these are able to get a DHCP address from my router. I can configure the TCPIP protocol on the PC to use 192.168.2.xxx, then that PC can see the N5200 and logon to it, but the PC cannot get to the router. How do I make the N5200 operate the 4 LAN ports as a basic unmanaged switch?

I found the user guide of little help.

    Thanks
    Mike

I upgraded the firmware to V1.00.08 as soon as I got it to make sure the hard drives I used were supported.

I tried the the WAN LAN Exchange. This had the effect of preventing the N5200 from seeing my router. Perhaps I should have plugged the cable from the router into one of the LAN ports instead of leaving it in the WAN port?

I'm not sure what the purpose of the WAN LAN Exchange is.

I tried setting up the N5200 so that DHCP was enabled on the WAN port, in the hope it would allow the DNS to be provided by my router, but it didn't work, so I set it back.

Then I turned on DHCP for the LAN, which which at least makes any PC connected to the router get an IP address, but it doesn't do anything for DHCP.

So, I got the DNS server addresses for my ISP and added that to the WAN config, but anything attached to the 4 LAN ports still doesn't see DNS.

    So i'm still stuck.

    Try on following stpes:
    1. Set the WAN Configuration -> DHCP-> ENABLED
    2. Enable the WAN LAN Exahanged function and reboot the N5200
    3. Change the network cable from routre to 1 of the 4 LAN ports.

    ip config

I can't seem to get the IP setting correct to make the lan/wan exchange work. Every time I set this on and reboot the NAS, I loose all connectivity, no matter which port I plug into my router.

Do I leave the lan port setting on the proper subnet to talk to my router, or do I reconfigure the wan interface to be on that subnet.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Hi.
Seems that I have similiar problems. I have firmware 1.00.10. Do I have to install FW ...12.3?
I noticed it's a beta FW and I'm a little bit cautions with those things.

    thx, Bachus98

Maybe it would help if you documented it...

Maybe it would help if you explained what the LAN/WAN exchange function is supposed to _do_ and how the switch interacts with the 5200 to begin with. There's no documentation for this at all.
