Raw Read Error Rate / CRC Errors - What does it mean?

    Hi,

I've had my N5200BR since March 2007 and all seemed to be running ok until recently. About 2 weeks ago I started to get corrupt data files and/ or CRC error messages on specific file types such as RAR, ZIP and with video files such as MOV, WMV where the playback of these file types were scrambled or simply did not playback correctly.

The issue seems to be with all files that get downloaded directly to the N5200BR via FTP. When downloading via FTP to my local computer HDD I do not get the errors that the N5200BR are getting.

My current work-around seems to be that I first have to download files to my local HDD then transfer them to the N5200BR. This however is not optimal use of time or networking for me.

    My setup is:
    • ISP: webpass ethernet internet service - truly amazing service.
    • Router: D-Link DIR-655 Wireless Router.
    • Network: D-Link controls the DHCP. N5200BR is connected to the D-Link via the WAN Port. Computer is connected to the D-Link via Lan Port.

I installed Andreas' INFO module yesterday to get the below results. The 'Raw Read Error Rate' results do not look normal (though im not an IT/ Raid expert). What do these results mean? Could this be part or the actually problem i'm having?

The LED indicator and Admin pages says nothing about my RAID being in jeopordy. Anyone have any thoughts or similar issues and how did you resolve such?

    Thanks in advance!

Could the issue i'm having above be related to potential bad memory in the N5200BR?

    Dear Zum,

Due to this issue only we open the file on N5200 directly, if possible please arrange a small ZIP/RAR file, and provide an IP address for us to access & verify, related connect configuration please refer to your PM.

    Thanks!
