Hi all,
I've got a almost new n5200 that is really screwed up. Its getting I/O errors on /dev/hda5 according to the dmesg log, which is the flash memory module. SMB users can no longer connect to the unit. According to another thread here I need a replacement flash module. A couple of weeks ago I called the support phone number listed on the contact web page and talked to a guy named Kevin who wasn't all that good at English. He told me that I need to try a "Flash Usb" patch before swapping the flash module, and said he would email it to me. I gave him my email address, and waited a couple of days. I never got the email, so I called back and got Kevin again. He said he had emailed it, so I gave him my gmail address to try that since I was thought my main address might have spam filtered it. He said he would email it again. I never got the email. Since then I've tried calling again but no one answers. I've left messages but no one returns calls. I've tried emailing to support at thecus.com but I have not received any replies. In short it seems that no support is available for this unit.
I've got a couple of questions -
1. Does anyone know where I can get this flash usb patch? I've looked on the website and not found anything.
2. Is there any support avenue that works? I suspect I may need this flash module and I have no idea where to get it.
At this rate I think I'm still in the 60 day window to dispute the original charge with the vendor; that may be my only option to get some sort of satisfaction.
Thanks,
Al
