    4100+ power management ?

    Hi all!

Has anyone had any experience using the Power Management features of the 4100+ to make the HDDs sleep after a preset time.

I am using the Seagate 500GB 16M Barracuda 7200.10 SATA NCQ 3Gb/s - ST3500630AS which appeared to have been on the 5200 compatabilty list and the HDDs do not power down after a set time even with no modules installed and no network activity.

Scheduling complete shutdown and restart does work however!

    Many thanks in anticipation!!

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

I am using exactly the same setup - A N4100+ and 4 x ST3500630AS (Firmware 3.AA) (in a raid 5) and mine power up and down without a problem. The only thing I changed was the timeout to 90 mins.

So hmm.. very strange that mine would work and yours wouldn't !? - My thecus firmware is 2.0.03 (which I assume everyone's is as I don't see an update..)

    Cheers,

    Sam.

    Thecus 4100+ Power Management

    Many thanks Sam!!

I noticed for the first time today (and i have tried many many times to schedule a HDD shutdown) that when I tried to change the timeout to 90 mins it said it would take effect after a reboot which I presume means only once to leave it set to 30 mins permanently.

So I have set it to 30 mins and done a reboot so here's hoping that is all that is required.

    Kind regards

    Peter

    Hi Sam

Both 30 mins and 60 mins did not work so now I am waiting for the 90 mins to pass.

Unfortunately I have not heard from the Help Centre for quite a while.

    Got to keep trying!
