Exclamation N5200: adding 4th disk to RAID 5

    Hi all,

I have an N5200, which I have had in RAID 5 with 3 disks for some time now.
I'm now trying to add a fourth disk, but don't seem to be able to!

The new drive appears in the list of disks, but in the RAID config page the RAID checkbox for the drive is greyed out (only the spare checkbox is available - but not checked). If I click "Migrate RAID" it's the same story. The RAID checkbox for the new drive is greyed out. The Migrate checkbox is available. I have tried checking the Migrate checkbox, then Apply. I get a dialog saying, "RAID setting" with an OK button (what's that all about?), and clicking OK takes me back to the config page with nothing changed!

I have the latest firmware (.10).

I'm hitting my head against a brick wall here! How can I add this drive to my array?

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi,
First You must be sure that a new drive is not added as spare automatically.
Then You have to check on all four disks the migrate checkbox, then click migrate.
The migration will take some time.

A good idea is to have a backup of all the data before You start migration.

    Thanks Peter.
I never thought the check all boxes.
I wonder why such fundamental things are not even mentioned in the manual, let along documented properly :-s

I'm going to have to do this without backup as I don't have anywhere else to back up to (we're talking about 1.5tb here). I really hope this works as I have very valuable data on there!

How valuable? More than, say £214 worth of data?

If it is, then get two of these to back up onto:
