N5200 NFS issue

Hello.
My brand new app. delivered with firmware 2.00.00.11 last week does not export more than one NFS-share at one time.

NFS-Export works fine until a second NFS-export share is set up (no matter on NFS-client platform - tested with sun solaris, suse 9.2 and 8.1, debian), then the NFS-server service stops.

Another Thecus NAS (1U4500 Firmware Version 1.00.02) in the same environment exports plenty of shares without any problem.

Any ideas ?

Hi Igor,

I just found out the reason for this: the NFS daemon start script in FW 2.00.01 (and due to your report 2.00.00.11 too) is broken and creates an invalid /etc/exports file during startup. By chance this error doesn't show up if only one share is exported by NFS, but for two or more shares the NFS server will not start.

The only fix is a new firmware from Thecus...

Please inform Thecus support that you need a fixed firmware asap.....

The German Thecus support told me, that a bug fix will be available in FW 2.00.03 at the beginning of October.

We've had the same issue too with FW 2.00.01 and NFS exports simply not working anymore. This has made our Thecus totally useless. It is now just an expensive brick

Any idea what date in October FW 2.00.03 will be released?

And did Thecus support advise to install the beta firmware as a workaround?

Be careful with the beta 2.00.03 version if You use modules - the module management is not working in this beta version.
