    Question Question- Mac AFP N4100?

I'm looking for a relatively fast NAS solution for an all Mac OS X environment. It looks like the n4100 or the n4100+ might fit the bill, due to lower cost plus raid 5. However, the most important aspect for me is Mac compatibility with special characters and long file names. I can't find a straight listing on the thecus website on which products support AFP 3, and this feature.

Is AFP and long+special character support possible in:
    1) the n4100 (regular, not plus version)
    2) n4100+

Also, if anyone else is using the n4100+ in Mac environment, gigabit cat6, os x client (intel or g5) . . . what kind of read and write speed are you getting?

    Re: Question- Mac AFP N4100?

    Dear Sir,

Current N4100 & N4100+ AFP with following Limitations
    a. When using Mac OS X (post 10.2 with AppleTalk) without SMB, do not use Japanese characters in folder or file names to prevent errors accessing the data over a network.
    b. Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X can not see files on the network with names made up of over 32 characters.
    c. Mac OS 8.x/9.x only support local character encoding on file names (without Unicode support).
    d. Occasionally, when a file is accessed by a Mac OS computer within a shared folder, an information file will be created in the same folder. If the file is then deleted by a Windows OS computer, the original file may no longer be accessible by Mac OS computers.
    e. The following characters are not allowed to be included in the name used for a file or shared folder when using Mac OS (AppleTalk) devices.
    ? [ ] / \ = + < > ; : ” , | *

    Yvon.
