    AD user sync

Ok so i got my N5200 to work with Server2003 AD user profiles and people had access to shared folders, All fine for a couple of months.

last night i altered the time on the server cos it had wandered out by 8 mins or so (yes i know theres a function for internet time somewhere but havent implemented it yet)
this morning theres no access to the n5200 cos (i guess) of the time difference between the thecus and server2003.
I have reset the time on the thecus to match (close to) the server2003 and tried the apply ADS/NT account support.

    just get this message now
"Warning : Hostname already exists (possible occur error)
    Join ADS domain successfully!
    "

and people still cant access the thecus...
any clues as to how to wipe and reinstate the AD access??

    Daer Sir,

Please try to disable join AD & change hotsname and following items about join AD for your refernce:

    1) The administrator password means that of ADS administrator, not NAS admin password.

    2) The DNS server of WAN configuration should be AD Server IP.

    3) Make sure the time and time zone are identical on both NAS and ADS.

    4) The margin of error of system clock between NAS and ADS cannot over plus or minus in 5 minutes.

    Yvon.

    So i disable AD/support,
then change the host name of the n5200 (ie its "computer name")
then try to enable AD support again??

I did have it all working until the time changed,
and it seems odd that i have to alter the name of the N5200 to get it to work again.

    Unhappy

Ok so changing the N5200' s network (host) name and re enabling Active directory has got it talking to the server and working with Active directory again, but

my workstation links used the UNC name and this has therefore changed, from
    \\n5200\share
    to
    \\n5200renamed\share

this buggers up the useablity of it as i will now need to change all workstations that link to it.

any way of altering it back to its original name, ( i dont want to try in case something else occurs......)

Maybe delete the old computer account from the AD and then remove the N5200 from the AD, change the hostname back to what it was originally and then re-add it to the AD.

    Re: AD user sync

    Hi all

Need some help on this problem.

I have added Thecus5200 to the domain (firmware ver : 2.00.00). Created a "shared" folder and tried to use ACL to control the file access using Win2003 AD.

    Browseable : Yes
    Public : No
    ADS/NT Support : Enable
    Authentication Method : ADS
SMB/CIFS : Enable (File Access Cache : Disable)

When I click on ACL on the shared folder, it only shows up the local users. I am not able to see the AD groups and individual accounts.

Can someone out there show me some light ? Thanks very much

    Re: AD user sync

You need to turn on CMB/CIFS sharing under "Network", "Services"

    Re: AD user sync

The AD users dont appear in the Accounts/Users panel on thecus,
you have to go to folder share and set ACL for it to show the AD users, (for me anyway)

there should b a thecus computer account on the server in yourdomain/computers,
i've also got a media_CNF:nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Security group user in yourdomain/users wich is related to the N5200.

    Re: AD user sync

I have the same problem as Jove.

I get the error below when trying to bind to AD.

    Join ADS domain successfully!
SMB/CIFS internal error (fail over to local user mode only)

There is a computer account in the computers OU in AD. The time and time zone are set correctly.

Is this something that the latest firmware will fix (it is running version 2)? Did you ever sort your problem Jove?

    Thanks

    Martyn
