    Question serious FTP upload issue

    Hello there,
I own a N5200 Pro with 5x Seagate 7200.10 500GB attached, arranged in a RAID5-array. Everything works fine, only the upload via FTP is very slow; speed is around 1 MB/s getting slower the larger the file is, down to approximately 770 KB/s. Here's an example

    Code:
    TYPE I
200 TYPE is now 8-bit binary
    PORT 192,168,2,100,6,212
    200 PORT command successful
    STOR 03 Black No. 1.mp3
    150 Connecting to port 5001
    226-File successfully transferred
226 10.853 seconds (measured here), 0.98 Mbytes per second
    Transfer done: 11180500 bytes in 10,860 secs (1029,51 k/sec)
the network consists purely out of GBit-components primarily 3Com an Intel stuff. tested with GBit switch in between, with two 100Mbit sitches, and with Cross-Over-cables directly conneted.

I did encounter this phenomenon on several machines with several FTP-Clients each. Downloads work fine with 20 MB/s up to 45 MB/s depending on filesize and location on disc.
Upload on SMB- and NFS-connections work with no problems at all with up to 30MB/s.

Reseting, flashing the firmware to 2.00.01 again or installing PureFTPD didn't do the trick.

So, anyone having encountered this problem yet who might have a solution for me ?

    Re: serious FTP upload issue

I also have noticed this problem.
I thought it was only AFP, but FTP is doing the same thing.
SMB works well in both read and write. 25-35 MB/s write, 35-40 MB/s read.
AFP reads well, writes very very slow. 1-5MB/s write, 35-40 MB/s read.
FTP reads well, writes very very slow. 1-5MB/s write, 35-45 MB/s read.
Haven't tried AFP since upgrading to 2.00.01, but FTP hasn't changed.
I also have a Bullet proof FTP server running on really old hardware that works fine 25-30MB/s read and write, a old W2k server running a old AFP v2 reads and writes around 30MB/s and a NASLite V2 NAS with FTP, AFP and NFS that works well.
Its only the N5200's AFP and FTP that has a crap write speed.

    Re: serious FTP upload issue

    Dear Sir,

We are curious about the " installing PureFTPD ", is it a module? and via what FTP client upload to N5200? Following suggestion for your reference:

    A.
Disable all of module on the N5200.

    B.
Please try to restart the FTP again from web configration page:
    1. Network->FTP->Disable->Apply
    2. Network->FTP->Enable->Apply

    C.
If above steps doesn't work, please mail the CONF.BIN from SYSTEM->CONFIG MGMG->Download, and mail to support@thecus.com for us analysis.

    Yvon.

    Re: serious FTP upload issue

    Hello Yvon,
the aforementioned Pure-FTPD is indeed a module, which can be found here:
onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N5200_Module_List (sorry, cannot post any URI ^^ ... yet)

As i already had deactivated an reactivated the FTP-Service without any changes taking place and I already reinstalled/reflashed the machine I will be sending the configfile later this evening.

    Best Regards
