    Backing up N5200bpro to eSATA hhd

    I have installed a eSATA HDD on to my n5200bpro. I can see and use it in \\Server-n5200bp\usbhdd\sdf1.
    But how do i make the N5200bpro to back up it self to the eSATA-disk (sdf1) automatically at given times????

    I'm totally new on this so i would appreciate if some could explain for me how i should do...

    Peter

    Re: Backing up N5200bpro to eSATA hhd

    Daer Sir,

    If we went to wiriting data to the eSATA on N5200, we have to format the eSATA HDD into FAT32, and most simple way to copy RAID data to eSATA, we could via SAMBA to drop the file to \\Server-n5200bp\usbhdd\sdf1.

    Re: Backing up N5200bpro to eSATA hhd

    Dear Sir,

    If we have 5 HDDs in the N5200 at first, and than we join a new HDD would become sdf, if we have 4 HDD and join another HDD, thus would become sde.

    HDD1->sda
    HDD2->sdb
    HDD3->sdc
    HDD4->sdd
    HDD5->sde
    HDD6->sdf

    Yes, but what if Disk 5 is missing and an eSATA (Disk 6) is added? Is Disk 6 then sde or sdf?

    Dear Sir,

    The sequence bepend on the time we plug in the HDD, if we have 4 HDD & 1 eSATA already, once we plug a new HDD into N5200, this HDD would be sdf.

    Re: Backing up N5200bpro to eSATA hhd

    Depends on the FW you are running. if FW is <2.00.03 you have to mount the disk manually. To do this you have to install SSH and SYSUSER modules, log on to the box and perform the mount command.

    If FW is 2.00.03 beta it appears automagically under \\n5200\usbhdd\sdx, but FW 2.00.03 is still rather crappy (module support is broken).

    ty ..

    I've got it mounted .. now ... but i need to have it as a share ... so my users can see it .. and I'm still on a learning curve with linux ..

    can you point me in the right direction so that I can set the external eSATA as a auto mount and a share ... ( need to remove the eSATA for off site backups ) ..

    thanks

    Re: Backing up N5200bpro to eSATA hhd

    Strange. I have a e-sata drive with two HDD's set as a JBOD but in \\Server-n5200bp/usbhdd i can se them as two separate hdd's :-o

    I would really appreciate if some one could tell me how to make the N5200bpro to backup it self to an external eSATA-disk automatically at given times...

    Many thanks, Peter in Bangkok
